A live preview — every screen above is the real TerminalX UI running in your browser, not a mockup. On desktop you can click around inside the window.
Privacy
TerminalX is offline-first with no cloud features — no sync, no teams, no telemetry. Everything runs on your machine or your own network.
Buy a license key and start connecting. There is nothing to sign in to.
The app never reports what you connect to, when, or for how long.
Your vault is encrypted on your device — never on our servers.
A native, low-memory desktop app with no bundled browser engine.
01· Workspace
Tabs, split panes and a quiet chrome layer, so your shell output is the focus. Connect from the host grid or paste a quick-connect string — either way you are in within a second, over SSH, Mosh, Telnet or a serial cable.
02· SFTP
Drag files between your machine and the server without opening a second app. Clear paths, sensible defaults, recursive operations and live progress — all riding the same encrypted session and the same vault that protects your SSH keys.
03· Security
Import existing keys, generate new Ed25519 / RSA / ECDSA identities and link them to hosts. The vault is sealed with Argon2id and XChaCha20-Poly1305, unlocks with one master password, and can lock itself when you walk away.
04· Hosts
Organise a fleet the way you think about it — nested groups, tags and group-level defaults that every host inherits, so a new server is ready the moment you add it. Quick-connect from a string, then duplicate, move and re-tag entries without fighting a form.
05· Port forwarding
Save local, remote and dynamic SOCKS5 tunnels as rules that travel with the host they belong to, and start them automatically when the session opens. See what is running at a glance and stop a forward without hunting for a stray process.
06· Snippets
Keep the commands you run over and over as snippets and drop them straight into any open session — no clipboard round-trip. Target a single session, or fire the same command into several at once.
Everything that ships
Eight more things that ship with TerminalX — no add-ons, no per-seat upgrades.
SSH, SFTP, Mosh, Telnet and Serial in a single client — remote shells, file transfers and console access without switching apps.
Browse local and remote side by side, then upload, download, preview, rename, chmod and watch transfer progress.
Local, remote and dynamic SOCKS5 tunnels as saved rules that can auto-start with the session they belong to.
Generate Ed25519, RSA or ECDSA keys, import existing ones, and keep private material in an encrypted vault — never on our servers.
Run sessions side by side, search the whole scrollback, and jump back through your command history.
Save the commands you retype and drop them into any open session in one keystroke.
Move hosts, groups, keys and snippets over from Termius, ~/.ssh/config, PuTTY, SecureCRT, MobaXterm or CSV — no rebuilding by hand.
Light and dark themes, custom fonts and rebindable shortcuts, so the terminal looks and behaves the way you like.
TerminalX vs cloud subscriptions
Cloud SSH apps are polished — if you want an account and a monthly bill, they are a fine choice. TerminalX is for people who want to own the software and keep the keys: one honest payment, a local encrypted vault, and an import that moves you over in two clicks.
| Feature | TerminalX.sh | Typical cloud SSH app |
|---|---|---|
| Price model | Single-time license$9 once, then $19, then $29 | Pro subscription from ~$10/mo billed annually (~$12 monthly) |
| Account required | No account, ever | Account required |
| Credentials & keys | Local encrypted vault (Argon2id + XChaCha20-Poly1305) | Cloud vault by default |
| Works offline | Full app runs offline | Cloud and account features need a connection |
| Runtime & footprint | Tauri — native WebView, lean binary, low idle RAM | Electron — bundled Chromium, heavier |
| Protocols | SSH, SFTP, Mosh, Telnet and Serial | SSH, SFTP, Mosh and Telnet |
| Import from other clients | Built-in wizard for SSH config, PuTTY, CSV and rival exports (best-effort) | Mostly manual setup |
| Updates | Every future update included | Tied to an active subscription |
| Cost over 3 years | From $9 once | Roughly $300–360+ |

Roadmap
Everything below runs on your machines or your own network/VPN — never through a server we run. No relay, no cloud vault, no account required, ever.
Share a host or vault with a teammate over your own network (Tailscale, WireGuard, plain LAN). No relay servers, no cloud vault.
Stream a running session to someone over LAN/VPN for pair debugging or handover. Read-only, nothing else.
Optional assistant that talks straight to your own provider or a local model. Off by default, nothing proxied.
ML-KEM/ML-DSA hybrid key exchange and PQ-sealed vault backups, ready before the migration deadline.
Shipped in this release: weekly encrypted snapshots on your device, restored from Settings in seconds.
Touch ID / Windows Hello to unlock the local vault, with the master password as the fallback.
Draw multi-hop SSH chains, per-hop auth and health checks without hand-writing ProxyJump.
Export an encrypted pack (hosts, keys, snippets) to a file so a team can share setups with no server.
Wall of love
A few dozen people ran TerminalX before launch — importing their real host lists, hammering the SFTP panes and breaking things so you won't have to.
“Moved 40 hosts over from Termius in about two minutes. The import wizard caught every group and tag I had.”
“The vault being local isn't a feature I'll think about daily — it's the reason my security team approved it.”
“Idle RAM is what sold me. My old client sat at 400 MB with two sessions open. This one barely registers.”
“Dual-pane SFTP with a preview before I overwrite anything. I stopped opening a separate file client entirely.”
“I paid once for my laptop and desktop and stopped thinking about renewals. That's the whole pitch and it delivers.”
“Serial console support in the same window as my SSH tabs is exactly what my lab bench needed.”
“Jump hosts and agent forwarding just worked with my existing ~/.ssh/config. No re-typing anything.”
“The command palette makes me faster than I was in the terminal I've used for a decade.”
“Mosh sessions that survive my train commute WiFi. My old client would drop and I'd lose scrollback.”
“Snippets paid for themselves in a week — I fire the same five deploy commands into any session now.”
“Tested it on Windows first, then realized it feels identical on my Mac. Rare for a cross-platform client.”
“Port forwarding rules that auto-start with the session. No more tunnels dying quietly at 2 a.m.”
“The whole app is one download and no account screen. Installing it on a fresh machine takes seconds.”
“Search across the scrollback actually finds things. I use it more than I expected during incidents.”
“Light and dark themes both look like someone cared. Most terminal apps treat light mode as an afterthought.”
“I run it on a five-year-old ThinkPad. It opens instantly, and the idle battery drain is basically zero.”
“Generated an Ed25519 key in the app, exported the public half, and had it on the server in under a minute.”
“Session logs saved me during a migration — full transcript of every command, stored locally, nothing uploaded.”
“The 14-day refund made trying it trivial. I didn't need it — I bought a second license for my work machine.”
“It's the small things: tabs remember their titles, splits resize sanely, the palette is instant.”
“As someone who audits tooling for supply-chain risk, a no-account, no-telemetry client is refreshing.”
“My whole team of four moved over after the beta. The import covered everyone's configs without hand-fixing.”
“I've paid for terminal apps on subscription for years. Owning this one for the price of two months feels absurd.”
“Known-hosts prompts on key changes are the right amount of friction — it caught a rotated host key I'd have missed.”
Beta feedback from the TerminalX testers program.
